The Beginning

We’re Chloe and James, and this is the story behind our brand.
A story that began in 2005, in a small terraced house just outside central Manchester — with a dream, two young idealists, and one very special dog: Mimi.

Mimi was a chocolate Labradoodle with a wild tangle of curls and a personality that stole your heart the moment you met her.
Sweet, a little stubborn, but always loyal.
She was our housemate, our comfort on tough days, and the quiet force behind everything we built.

When we opened our first shop — a charming little place tucked away in a side street of the Northern Quarter — it felt only right that she should lend it her name.
Mimi-Manchester had to feel like her: warm, familiar, and real.
Not a cold retail experience, but a space where people felt truly welcome.
Where service was personal. Where you were actually cared for.

The Growth

What began as a small dream grew into a brand we’re incredibly proud of.
We opened more stores across the region, launched this webshop, and had the joy of welcoming thousands of customers.
Our community grew — not just in Manchester, but across the UK.

Those years were filled with passion, creativity, and real connection.
We lived and breathed what we did, and we did it all together — as a couple, a team, and a family business.

The Reality

But times changed.
Online giants took over. Costs soared. Margins shrank.
We fought hard, tried new ideas, and adapted where we could — but in the end, we had to make the hardest decision of all:
we’re closing down.

Not because we’ve lost the love.
But because it’s simply no longer sustainable.

One Last Chapter

We’re closing our doors — with heavy hearts, but full of pride for what we’ve built.
So now, we’re holding a big closing-down sale.

Everything must go.
Not to chase profit, but because we’d rather see our pieces in your home than in storage.
